Report: Fleck brings Western Michigan's OC to Minnesota

Brace Hemmelgarn / US PRESSWIRE

P.J. Fleck apparently isn't the only member of Western Michigan's coaching staff making the move to Minnesota, as a source told Joe Christensen of the Star Tribune that Broncos offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca will take the same job with the Golden Gophers.

The 51-year-old, who spent the past four seasons with Fleck at Western Michigan, led the nation's ninth-ranked offensive unit in 2016, averaging 41.6 points per contest.

The news comes just hours after it was reported that Ohio State co-offensive coordinator Ed Warinner is leaving the Buckeyes to serve as Fleck's offensive line coach at Minnesota.

Ciarrocca's greatest work is likely that with Broncos quarterback Zach Terrell, who had no Power 5 scholarship offers out of high school, but passed for 33 touchdowns against just four interceptions this past season.

He certainly has a big task ahead in Minnesota, as the Gophers ranked 63rd in the country in scoring offense last season.
