Deshaun Watson named title game offensive MVP

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson was named offensive MVP of the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, and really, there was no other choice.

Watson was simply brilliant for the Tigers, completing 36-of-56 passes for 420 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 43 yards and another score on the ground in the 35-31 win over Alabama. Watson was at his best late, leading Clemson on a pair of scoring drives in the fourth quarter with the Tigers trailing each time.

A junior, Watson is announced his intentions to enter the 2017 NFL Draft after the win, making the title game the last time he puts on the Clemson uniform. It's a performance Clemson fans will never forget, bringing just the second national championship in school history.

Tigers linebacker Ben Boulware was named the defensive player of the game.
