Jim Furyk, a 17-time PGA Tour winner, is expected to be named the 2018 United States Ryder Cup captain, according to James Corrigan of the Telegraph.

Furyk played on nine Ryder Cup teams for the States, winning it in 1999 at Brookline and 2008 at Valhalla, and was an assistant captain in September at Hazeltine, where the Americans won.

The 2003 U.S. Open champion reportedly beat out Fred Couples for the position. Both Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson were among those on the selection committee that chose the captain.

Thomas Bjorn was named the captain for the European squad in December. The 2018 competition will take place at Le Golf National in Paris.
