John Urschel is continuing to receive some major recognition for his rare abilities off the playing field.

The Baltimore Ravens offensive lineman, now well known to the football world as an accomplished mathematician, earned a spot on Forbes' 2017 list of 30 Under 30 in Science.

From Urschel's entry:

Urschel has published six peer-reviewed mathematics papers to date and has three more ready for review. That's a respectable publication history for someone who only started pursuing their PhD at MIT this year. He's won academic awards for his math prowess. All this while playing guard for the Baltimore Ravens.

Urschel earned both his bachelor's and a masters in mathematics at Penn State before landing with the Ravens as a fifth-round pick in 2014.

According to the Ravens' official website, he also enrolled in a PhD program at M.I.T. studying spectral graph theory, numerical linear algebra, and machine learning last offseason.

The 25-year-old has started 13-of-40 appearances across his first three seasons in the NFL.
