Bilic: 2 calls against West Ham were 'totally unfair' in United defeat

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic had an unfortunate start to the new year, as his team fell victim to two "totally unfair" decisions that contributed to a 2-0 loss at home to Manchester United on Monday.

Sofiane Feghouli was sent off by Mike Dean in the first 15 minutes of the match, after a collision with United defender Phil Jones was deemed to be a red card offence.

After the match, Bilic was far from impressed with the controversial decision that impacted his team so early in the contest.

"It was never a red card, to be fair," Bilic said, as reported on the club website. "It was a challenge from both of them and it is the other way around.

"The more dangerous foul is by Jones, because he went with the scissors."

The Croatian gaffer felt the officials were sold by the reaction of the Preston native who was visibly writhing in agony following the challenge.

"Feghouli very rarely makes a foul and his foot was not high in the air," said Bilic. "It’s not deliberate and, for me, that was the crucial decision in the game. That early, it killed us and killed the game, and put the game into a totally different perspective."

Bilic also offered his opinion about United's second goal, in which Zlatan Ibrahimovic was standing in a clear offside position before dispatching the ball into the old onion bag.

"The decision for the other one (to award Ibrahimovic's goal) was totally unfair to us and totally wrong," he said.

"It's a big offside because the players are not sprinting. A lot of times we need slow motion, but the players were walking."

This follows Jose Mourinho having a similar feeling of distaste aimed towards Lee Mason, for the referee's controversial decision to disallow an Ibrahimovic goal for high-foot, against Middlesbrough on New Year's Eve.
