Dolphins clinch first playoff berth since 2008 with Chiefs' win

Timothy T. Ludwig / USA TODAY Sports

As the Kansas City Chiefs knocked the Denver Broncos out of playoff contention Sunday night, the Miami Dolphins clinched their first postseason berth since winning the AFC East in 2008.

Despite beating just one team with a winning record this season, the Dolphins could still move into the fifth seed with a win over New England and a Chiefs' loss to San Diego in Week 17.

If Miami finishes in the sixth spot, it will face the Pittsburgh Steelers in the wild-card round. The Dolphins would instead draw the Houston Texans if they move up to fifth.
