Deshaun Watson declares for 2017 NFL Draft after CFP title
Deshaun Watson's final collegiate play was a championship-winning touchdown pass.
The standout junior declared for the 2017 NFL Draft after Clemson beat Alabama in the CFP title game Monday.
"It's time for me to go, end it with a bang," Watson said to reporters after the game, according to Mike Griffith of SEC Country. He added, "Three years kinda flew by."
The quarterback leaves the collegiate game as one of the best players in the country throughout his time with the Tigers. He was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy the past two seasons, and became the first player ever to throw for 4,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in FBS history during the 2015 campaign.
His final numbers for 2016 saw him throw for 4,593 yards and 41 touchdowns, while adding 629 yards on the ground with nine scores.
Watson is currently ranked by both ESPN draft analysts Todd McShay and Mel Kiper Jr. as the third-best quarterback prospect in the 2017 NFL Draft.
