Festive Ferdinand donates £500K worth of toys to Manchester charity

Spoiler alert: Santa doesn't exist.

Fortunately for children living in poverty across Manchester, United defender Rio Ferdinand does.

The six-time Premier League winner, who now works as a pundit for BT Sport, has generously donated £500,000 to a Manchester charity 'Cash for Kids.'

"Christmas is a time when families want to get each other presents and there are obviously people that are less fortunate than we are so we want to try and help them and donate £500,000 worth of toys," Rio said on radio station Key 103, courtesy of the BBC.

"As a father myself I couldn't see children going without opening a present this Christmas day."

The charity, which assists both disadvantaged and disabled children across Greater Manchester, says its 'Mission Christmas' campaign aims to help 60,000 local youths who would otherwise be at risk of getting nothing for Christmas.

Classy move by Ferdinand, whose charitable efforts are enough to put a smile on the faces of even the most sullen of Scrooges this holiday season.

Okay, maybe not every Scrooge.
