Giants grant young fan's demand to sign Melancon to 'big contract'

Brad Mills / USA TODAY Sports

San Francisco Giants general manager Bobby Evans is handing out checks and making wishes come true this offseason.

Prior to officially announcing the signing of Mark Melancon on Friday, Evans received a letter from a young fan begging for him to sign the All-Star closer.

"Bobby, it would be so cool if the Giants got Mark Melancon. I really really really want you to go out and get him very very soon. Melancon really really needs to come to the Giants. Please offer him a big contract!!! Bobby, please go out and get him now! Melancon needs to come to the Giants this offseason."

Evans certainly inked Melancon to the big contract that was requested, handing the right-hander $62 million. No word on if the letter was written by Melancon's daughter, but if so, expect a raise to her allowance.
