Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles is hoping to return for the playoffs, after undergoing two procedures on his knee this season, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

Charles underwent a scope on his left knee from renowned surgeon James Andrews on Nov. 14.

The running back injured his knee earlier in the season and suffered a season-ending torn ACL in 2015.

Spencer Ware is operating as the team's lead back in Charles' absence, rushing for 734 yards and three touchdowns.

If the playoffs were to begin today, the Chiefs would hold the first wild-card spot.
