Alabama DE Jonathan Allen wins Hendricks Award

Matthew Emmons / USA TODAY Sports

Alabama's Jonathan Allen was named winner of the Hendricks Award on Wednesday, given annually to the top defensive end in the country.

It's the second major award for Allen this week, as he already claimed the Nagurski Trophy as the top defensive player in the country.

Allen, a senior, has 8.5 sacks, 13 tackles for a loss, and two defensive touchdowns this year for the first-ranked Crimson Tide.

He topped Utah's Hunter Dimick, Tennessee's Derek Barnett, Boston College's Harold Landry, Pitt's Ejuan Price, and Florida State's DeMarcus Walker for the award.
