Heat heading into road trip woefully undermanned

Mark L. Baer / USA TODAY Sports

It's not easy winning games on the road, especially when you're team isn't at full strength.

The Miami Heat will host the New York Knicks on Tuesday before embarking on a three-game road trip with five players sidelined.

James Johnson suffered a right rotator cuff strain last Thursday versus the Utah Jazz, and Luke Babbitt has a lingering problem with his hip that sidelined him for Saturday's loss in Portland.

Josh Richardson is out after hurting his ankle last week, Dion Waiters is nursing an issue with his groin, and Justise Winslow has been sidelined for the past month with a wrist injury.

The 7-13 Heat will visit conference rivals Atlanta Hawks, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Chicago Bulls this week with only nine active players.

Rodney McGruder, Tyler Johnson, and Wayne Ellington are among those seeing the biggest boost in minutes for the decimated club.
