Report: 49ers' Chip Kelly will return as team's HC in 2017

Regardless of how the San Francisco 49ers perform over the final five games of the 2016 season, head coach Chip Kelly will return in 2017, Jay Glazer reported Sunday on FOX Sports' pregame show.

Kelly is only one year into a four-year deal, but with the 49ers at 1-10, there's been speculation the team could look to move on from him and general manager Trent Baalke.

However, it appears the 49ers will give Kelly more time to turn around the roster, which is one of the worst in the league.

There's been talk of Kelly returning to college after the season, especially with an opening at Oregon. However, he's denied any interest in a return on multiple occasions.
