Report: NFL competition committee to review Ravens' intentional holding tactic

Tommy Gilligan / USA TODAY Sports

The NFL's competition committee will review whether the tactic used by the Baltimore Ravens in the final play of last Sunday's win over the Cincinnati Bengals will be legal for the 2017 season and beyond, a league source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Ravens intentionally held nine Bengals players to run down the final 11 seconds, ultimately allowing a safety and winning the game 19-15.

The clock ran out and the Bengals never got a chance at the ball because a game is allowed to finish on an offensive penalty (it can't on a defensive penalty).

Vice president of officiating Dean Blandino said Wednesday that the league will likely look into finding out a way of eliminating this option moving forward.
