Report: D-Backs have reached out to Ziegler, Hudson

The Arizona Diamondbacks are interested in bringing a pair of familiar faces back to the desert.

With ambitions of improving the bullpen, the Diamondbacks have reportedly reached out to both Brad Ziegler and Daniel Hudson, sources told Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic.

Ziegler spent six seasons in Arizona before he was traded to the Boston Red Sox in early July. The right-hander posted a 2.25 ERA and 1.37 WHIP in 42 appearances last season, while converting 22 saves. It's believed that the 37-year-old is looking to close somewhere, making the Diamondbacks a possible fit.

Hudson has also spent the last six seasons in Arizona before filing for free agency in November. The former starter converted to a reliever following a second Tommy John surgery in 2013. He struggled in 2016, posting a 5.22 ERA over 60 1/3 innings.
