Redskins' Reed out vs. Cardinals, could return in Week 14

Washington Redskins star tight end Jordan Reed has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals due to a shoulder injury.

However, head coach Jay Gruden said the team is hopeful Reed will be able to suit up in Week 14, according to Liz Clarke of The Washington Post.

Reed sustained a Grade 3 AC joint separation in last Thursday's loss to the Dallas Cowboys. He was able to return and caught two touchdowns, but a postgame MRI revealed the injury was likely severe enough to cause at least a one-game absence.

Resting the veteran is a smart move by the Redskins, as they have important divisional games left and can't afford for him to have a setback and derail their chances of a wild-card berth.
