Vikings' Smith seen with walking boot, crutches following loss to Cowboys

The unfortunate result of Thursday night's matchup with the Dallas Cowboys isn't the only concern for the Minnesota Vikings.

Safety Harrison Smith left the locker room following the loss with the help of crutches and a walking boot on his left foot, according to multiple reports.

Smith has missed practice time and played through an ankle issue in recent weeks, but even the defensive back himself doesn't seem certain as to whether the latest injury is related.

The former first-round pick has only further established himself as one of the NFL's premier safeties after being rewarded with a five-year, $51.25-million extension this past offseason.

Smith will have an extended week of rest before the Vikings take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Dec. 11, but his status for that game will presumably now be in question.

Any absence down the stretch would be a major loss for a Vikings team now entirely reliant on its defense to pull out wins.
