Report: MLB to move tender deadline to 8 p.m.

Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

Major League Baseball and the players association have agreed to move Friday's tender deadline from 11:59 p.m. ET to 8:00 p.m., according to Jordan Bastian of MLB.com.

Each team has the chance to offer a contract to its arbitration-eligible players, and if one of the players is non-tendered, they'll immediately become a free agent.

Once a contract is offered, the team and player will discuss a proposed salary in January, with arbitration hearings scheduled for February if no deal is reached before that time. The two parties can agree to a new deal at any point before then.

Some non-tender candidates include Ben Revere, Brett Lawrie, Jeanmar Gomez, Yonder Alonso, Scooter Gennett, and Jordan Lyles.
