UCF's Scott Frost: 'I'm not a candidate for Oregon'

Exactly one year after being hired by UCF, head coach Scott Frost said he won't be making a move back to Oregon.

"I'm not a candidate for Oregon," he told reporters Thursday, according to Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group. "I'm where I want to be."

Frost was hired by the Knights after spending the previous seven seasons as an assistant at Oregon - the last three as the offensive coordinator.

Frost's connection to the Ducks led to speculation that he'd be a logical candidate to replace Mark Helfrich, whom Oregon fired Tuesday. Frost led UCF to a 6-6 record this year, a nice turnaround from the 0-12 mark the program posted in 2015.

"I started something here," Frost added. "I feel like we've taken a lot of steps to getting this program to the top of this league and I want to see that through."

Frost is the second former Oregon employee to publicly deny interest in the job, as ex-head coach Chip Kelly said Wednesday he has no interest in a reunion with his old employer.
