TFC trolls Montreal Impact after 1st-leg measurement mishap

Ahead of the second leg of the MLS Eastern Conference final Wednesday at BMO Field, Toronto FC's groundskeepers trolled their Montreal Impact counterparts after their mangled on-pitch measurements in the first tilt eight days earlier.

The Olympic Stadium crew - the Impact's temporary, larger home for the clash rather than its usual backyard of Saputo Stadium - were responsible for a kickoff delay of over 30 minutes in Nov. 22's home leg after they had to repaint the lines on the field. They were too narrow, according to league regulations, and, to add further comedy to the situation, a leaf blower became the unlikely hero in Quebec as it was brought in to quickly dry the lines.

Cue the TFC grounds crew showing Montreal how it's done:

"We're somewhat embarrassed. Obviously it's the first time it has happened to us. We've been in situations like this before, where we have 61,000 fans," Impact owner Joey Saputo said when the event was finally getting underway.

"We had the Champions League final here. It's a responsibility of the referees to check it out. Unfortunately, the referees got here a little late - whether it was traffic or traffic around the stadium.

"We have to take full responsibility for it. It's our fault. It's unfortunate it has happened."
