Eagles troll Packers with '4th-and-26' reference from 2003-04 playoffs

With Monday night's prime-time matchup mere hours away, the Philadelphia Eagles are dishing out a not so subtle reminder of an historic playoff game the visiting Green Bay Packers would probably rather forget.

The fourth-and-26 down and distance seen on the scoreboard prior to kickoff, as captured by Brandon Lee Gowton of Philadelphia Magazine, is a not so subtle reference to the impossible late-game situation the Eagles overcame to take down the Packers in the divisional round of the 2003-04 postseason.

Trailing Green Bay by a field goal with just 1:12 remaining in the fourth quarter, the Donovan McNabb-led Eagles had one long-distance play to move the chains and keep their season alive.

McNabb did just that by finding Freddie Mitchell for the first down, and a field goal from David Akers would later send the game to overtime.

Another big play in the extra frame, this time an interception and lengthy return from safety Brian Dawkins, quickly put Akers in position for the game-winner and effectively sent Philadelphia to its third consecutive NFC Championship game.

It would be another year before they earned a long-awaited spot in the Super Bowl, however, as the Carolina Panthers rolled into town and emerged with a 14-3 win the following week.
