UCLA parts with offensive coordinator Kennedy Polamalu

Kirby Lee / USA TODAY Sports

UCLA won't renew the contract of offensive coordinator Kennedy Polamalu, the team announced Sunday.

Polamalu lasted just one season in the role, which was previously held by Noel Mazzone. Upon Polamalu's appointment to offensive coordinator, head coach Jim Mora vowed to feature a more physical offense, but that pledge never really materialized.

The Bruins struggled mightily to establish the running game all season, while the offensive line failed to keep quarterback Josh Rosen upright on a consistent basis. UCLA finished the season ranked 92nd in the FBS in total offense.

The team's next offensive coordinator will be UCLA's third in three years.

The Bruins wrapped up a disappointing season Saturday with a loss to Cal, finishing the year at 4-8. It's the first time in Mora's tenure that the Bruins won't appear in the postseason.
