Mississippi State was apparently dealt a massive blow Monday, as a source told Jon Rothstein of Fan Rag Sports that star guard Quinndary Weatherspoon is out for the season with a wrist injury.

The 6-foot-4 Weatherspoon is the Bulldogs' leading scorer through four games, averaging 18.8 points and five rebounds per contest.

He was a standout performer in his freshman season, finishing third on the team in scoring, and is Ben Howland's top returning player for the SEC club.

The Bulldogs have started the 2016-17 campaign with a 3-1 record, but the loss of Weatherspoon would certainly make an NCAA tournament run difficult.
