Usain Bolt won't feature at Borussia Dortmund training sessions during the build-up to a crucial Champions League match, but the nine-time Olympic gold medallist is more than welcome to join the squad next summer.

Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke confirmed that arrangements have been made to include the 30-year-old in training sessions, after learning about the Jamaican's interest in working out with the club from the CEO of PUMA - the German sportswear company that sponsors both the Bundesliga team and Bolt.

“We’ve decided this some time ago," Watzke revealed to German outlet Bild, according to Eurosport's Tom Bennett

"Puma CEO Bjorn Gulden who is member of our board has told us that Usain is highly interested in practising with us," Watzke said. "For us that’s no problem. Our coach Thomas Tuchel likes the idea as well.

"Of course he won’t visit us in an important week with Champions League matches, but maybe in the preseason. We are delighted and take this as an honour."

On Saturday, Bolt told the Guardian's Decca Aitkenhead that he would train with Dortmund, but admitted his ultimate dream is to eventually get a call from his favourite English club, Manchester United.

"For me, if I could get to play for Manchester United, that would be like a dream come true," Bolt said. "Yes, that would be epic."
