Report: Red Sox, Blue Jays, Yankees have reached out to Morales

The American League East appears to have its collective eye on Kendrys Morales.

One of free agency's marquee sluggers, Morales has generated early interest from three of the division's heavyweights - the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, and New York Yankees have all reportedly reached out to the switch-hitter, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

The 33-year-old slashed .263/.327/.468 with a team-high 30 home runs to go with 24 doubles and 93 RBIs in 154 games with the Kansas City Royals. He's hit 52 home runs and posted an .821 OPS over the past two seasons.

Morales declined his $11-million mutual option last week to pursue free agency. The 10-year veteran is an intriguing option, as he's not tied to draft-pick compensation after the Royals opted against extending a qualifying offer.

Adding Morales could serve as an insurance policy for the Blue Jays, should they be unable to re-sign Edwin Encarnacion.

Morales is also an attractive option for the Red Sox, who are looking to replace David Ortiz at DH without committing too many years.

The Yankees, meanwhile, are likely to deploy Brian McCann as their designated hitter, so they'd likely need to move the veteran catcher in order to make room for Morales.
