Toronto FC cruised into the Eastern Conference Championship by way of a comprehensive 5-0 win over New York City FC at Yankee Stadium, with a hat-trick from Sebastian Giovinco and goals from Jozy Altidore and Jonathan Osorio securing a 7-0 aggregate victory.

Toronto FC now takes on rivals Montreal Impact in the conference final, with the first leg of this high-stakes 401 Derby set to be played at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal on Nov. 22 before returning to BMO Field on Nov. 30.

Having already secured a 2-0 lead at BMO Field in the first leg of the series, the Reds kicked things off in fine fashion courtesy of another highlight-reel goal by the "Atomic Ant," as Giovinco turned NYCFC defender Maxime Chanot inside-out before scoring in the 6th minute of play.

Giovinco then added a second in the 19th minute from the penalty spot after being fouled in the box while streaking toward goal.

On his birthday, Altidore celebrated a beautiful goal of his own, smashing home a volleyed effort at the half-hour mark. Jonathan Osorio added a fourth, courtesy of smart passing in and around the box to start the second half.

Giovinco completed his hat trick in the 91st minute with a low shot from the edge of the box, becoming the first player in MLS playoff history to score three goals away from home.

Toronto FC and the Montreal Impact now enter uncharted waters as neither side has ever contested a conference championship series, one that is guaranteed to produce the first Canadian team to ever contest an MLS Cup final.
