Purdue has announced guard Ryan Cline will be suspended four regular-season games for violating team rules. He was initially suspended for one game, an exhibition game, and a closed scrimmage.

"As we've said before, our guys are held to a high standard of conduct off the court," head coach Matt Painter said. "After some additional meetings and information gathering over the last week, we've decided that Ryan will sit out the first six contests of the season for a violation of team rules. We are not going to discuss specifics and will handle other items internally, but feel this is the best course of action for our program and everyone involved."

Cline missed Tuesdays exhibition game against Southern Indiana, and will also miss a scrimmage against West Virginia, along with regular-season contests versus McNeese State, Villanova, Georgia State, and Utah State.

Cline's first game eligible back will be against either Auburn or Texas Tech.

The sophomore appeared in all 35 games as a freshman, averaging 3.9 points and shooting 38.5 percent from 3-point range.
