Arsenal's Ozil left out of Germany squad

More good news for Arsenal supporters Friday after Germany boss Joachim Low released his 25-man squad for a pair of upcoming internationals sans Gunners star Mesut Ozil.

After stud right-back Hector Bellerin was quoted saying he doesn't fancy a Barcelona return earlier in the day, the Gunners faithful will be as pleased to hear Ozil has mercifully been gifted a break during the upcoming international break.

Ozil, who played the full 90 minutes in each of Germany's six Euro 2016 matches, is one of Low's most trusted servants. While deserving of the role, it does little to quell the fears of Arsenal supporters dreading the impact of a long-term injury to its star.

Low explained his motivations, saying, "The players from the top international leagues don't have a winter break like we have in the Bundesliga, so it is good to allow players who are regulars at their clubs and for us a break," to ESPN FC's Stephen Uersfeld.

The 83-time capped midfielder is enjoying the best season of his career with Arsenal playing in a more advanced position. Ozil has three goals in the league paired with four in the Champions League, as Arsenal's trophy ambitions get a boost with each passing match.

With rival Tottenham visiting the Emirates on Sunday, Ozil is certain to play a massive role against the side three points adrift and five miles to the north.

Then, instead of jetting off with his Die Mannschaft mates for matches against San Marino and Italy, Ozil can get some rest and relaxation, and prepare for Arsenal's first fixture after the international break against a reeling Manchester United.
