Xavier's Myles Davis hopes to avoid trial, rejoin team

The attorney for Xavier's Myles Davis is hopeful that his client will soon resolve misdemeanor criminal charges involving a former girlfriend - ideally with a restitution payment, rather than through litigation.

"We're trying to resolve the case in a fashion that's consistent with the fact that this was two teenagers that were involved in a volatile relationship. They've moved on," attorney Clyde Bennett said to Patrick Brennan of The Enquirer. "Mr. Davis has learned lessons from his relationship and he's matured and developed and moved forward. He wants to put this behind him. So, with that, we plan to resolve this case by making Kiley (Stoll) whole."

Davis is scheduled for a plea hearing next week.

Musketeers head coach Chris Mack suspended Davis indefinitely in September, but said his player would have an "opportunity to come back," once the case was resolved.
