Purdue has suspended sophomore guard Ryan Cline for a violation of team rules.
Cline will sit out the Boilermakers' first three competitions of the season, which includes an exhibition game, a closed scrimmage, and the season-opener against McNeese State.
"We hold our players to a set of standards and they are expected to conduct themselves accordingly," head coach Matt Painter said in a brief statement.
Cline appeared in each of Purdue's 35 games last year, and averaged 3.9 points in 13.6 minutes per game.
The Boilermakers enter the 2016-17 season ranked 15th in the AP Poll.
