Here is a look at the Squad Up daily NBA fantasy picture for Thursday, October 27:

Dynamic Duos

  • PG Ty Lawson (45K) & C DeMarcus Cousins (122K), Kings (vs. Spurs): Cousins' monster salary is neutralized by Lawson's bargain price tag. Combined, their salaries are similar to any other respectable duo. Though the Spurs are a stout defensive team, Cousins still averaged 24.7 points and 10.3 rebounds against them last season.
  • PG Chris Paul (79K) & C DeAndre Jordan (93K), Clippers (at Trail Blazers): The veteran duo of Paul and Jordan should have success against a Portland team that was a middling defensive group last year. Considering the cost of the two, complement them with a bargain play listed below to fill out your tournament lineup.
  • PG Dennis Schroder (65K) & PF Paul Millsap (92K), Hawks (vs. Wizards): Schroder is set to open this year as Atlanta's full-time starting point guard. Luckily, he's still priced at an economical salary. Millsap, a well-rounded stretch four, should take advantage of a Washington defense that ranked T-26th in Opponent 3-Point Percentage last year.

Bargain Plays

  • PG Patty Mills (37K), Spurs (at Kings): Mills averaged a career high 20 minutes per game last year and played 18 in San Antonio's season opener against the Warriors. He finished with 11 points on 3-of-5 shooting from deep in that victory. Against an up-tempo Kings team that lacks any defensive fervor, his offensive potential is higher than usual.
  • SF Jonathon Simmons (36K), Spurs (at Kings): Simmons averaged just 14 minutes in his rookie year with the Spurs last season. He hit 28 in San Antonio's rout of the Warriors on Tuesday. With another blowout likely in the cards, Simmons could follow up his 20-point performance with another stellar game thanks to inflated playing time.
  • PG Ty Lawson (45K), Kings (at Spurs): Lawson is going to be a staple bargain option until PG Darren Collison's return. Lawson opened the season with nine points, seven assists, and six rebounds in 35 minutes. He'll remain a double-double candidate with that workload. Game script will see the Kings pushing from behind.

Contrarian Picks

  • SF Matt Barnes (42K), Kings (vs. Spurs): Barnes is on his third team in three years. At 36-years old, the journeyman has now played for nine teams in 15 seasons. Despite all this mileage, he tallied two 3-Pointers on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds in Sacramento's season opener. Expect the California native to play at least 25 minutes in this projected blowout.
  • SG Kyle Korver (38K), Hawks (vs. Wizards): As mentioned, the Wizards struggled to defend the deep ball last year. That poor perimeter defense should help an aging Korver. Now 34-years old, ownership will surely be down on the 3-Point specialist, who shot just 39.8 percent from deep last year -- his lowest mark since 2008-09.
  • PF Ed Davis (49K), Trail Blazers (vs. Clippers): Davis played a respectable 24 minutes in Portland's season opener, scoring six points and grabbing seven rebounds. His career Per 36 minutes project him to average a double-double, so there's credence to his abilities. Use him as a reliable budget option in either cash or tournament play.

Fades

  • SF Rudy Gay (74K), Kings (vs. Spurs): Gay will have a tough time hitting 20 points against SF Kawhi Leonard and the Spurs. Considering he'll likely only add a handful of rebounds and boards, he isn't likely to produce a stat line fitting of his top tier price.
  • C Pau Gasol (61K), Spurs (at Kings): Don't be alarmed if you didn't notice Gasol in his San Antonio debut. Hardly anyone did. The 36-year old scored just two points and snagged four boards in 18 minutes. With another blowout likely, he'll probably sit more than he'll play.
  • SF Jae Crowder (73K), Celtics (at Bulls): The addition of PF/C Al Horford should take an immediate toll on Crowder's offensive opportunities. Despite Crowder's 21 points on opening night, he should be faded with SF Jimmy Butler defending him, and a much stronger defensive team in Chicago on tap.
