Aaron Rodgers labels Matt Ryan 'elite'
Aaron Rodgers believes Matt Ryan should be grouped in with him when it comes to discussing the NFL's preeminent quarterbacks.
Rodgers, considered by some to be the NFL's top quarterback, believes Ryan is a top-tier player, praising him ahead of Sunday's game between the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons.
"I think he's one of the good guys. I think he's one of the elite guys as well. He's had a great year playing excellent, making great throws," Rodgers said via the Falcons' official website. "He and Julio (Jones) have a great connection, but he's been getting the other guys involved as well. Two good backs who can stretch the field in the run game and the passing game, and it's fun to see Matt doing well. I look forward to seeing him."
Ryan leads the NFL with 2,348 passing yards, completing 67.6 percent of his passes for 16 touchdowns against four interceptions.
Packers head coach Mike McCarthy shared a similar sentiment.
"I think more than anything it starts up front and with the quarterback Matt Ryan. Matt is playing great football right now. His numbers are outstanding."
In a game featuring two of the NFL's top signal-callers, the Falcons-Packers should be appointment viewing.
