Blazers, Jazz combine for 38 free throws without a miss

They're called freebies and both the Portland Trail Blazers and Utah Jazz took full advantage.

The two sides combined to shoot a perfect 38-for-38 from the line in Tuesday's season opener. Portland drilled all 22 of its free throws while Utah hit a perfect 16-of-16.

Somehow, this isn't the record for perfection in a game. That mark is shared by the Detroit Pistons and Milwaukee Bucks, who managed a perfect 41-for-41 mark in 2012. But Tuesday's game was only the third instance in NBA history that both teams were perfect.

While it's no surprise that excellent shooters Damian Lillard, C.J. McCollum, Rodney Hood, and George Hill were involved, it took a less characteristic 6-of-6 showing between Rudy Gobert (career 58.7 percent) and Ed Davis (56.5 percent) to cap off the perfect night.
