Washington State's Leach chooses 'lucky guy' Morrow as captain

Mike Leach has long been one of college football's most colorful coaches, and the Washington State frontman was at it again Monday during his weekly press conference.

It began with Leach's explanation as to why the Cougars, unlike most teams in the country, send just one captain to center for the coin toss prior to the game rather than a group.

"One of the most screwed up things about this country is to do anything, to cross the street, we have a committee. Well, screw the committee," Leach said according to Jacob Thorpe of the Spokesman Review. "We really only need one guy. Jamal Morrow was on the 'Price is Right,' and almost won. So, I figured Jamal Morrow is a lucky guy, plus he's got a pretty good energy to him."

Leach has never been shy to give opinions on matters outside of football, and judging by his thoughts on Chicago Cubs fans, it's probably a safe bet he's rooting for the Cleveland Indians in the World Series.

"Every yuppie with a BMW or some special attachment to his computer or designer jeans is a Cubs fan and refers to it as 'my Cubbies,'" Leach said. "It's not the Cubs' fault that they are the preferred team of yuppies with computers and jeans."

From accusing Arizona State of stealing signals last week, to generalizing all Cubs fans this week, life is never boring in Pullman when Leach is around.
