Chip Kelly denies Joe Staley is on trade block

San Francisco 49ers head coach Chip Kelly denied a rumor that five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Staley is on the trade block.

"That's news to me," Kelly said when asked about the rumor, according to Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group. "Nobody's had any discussions with me about Joe being traded. We need Joe here."

With several elite teams in need of help along the offensive line, both Staley and Cleveland Browns All-Pro Joe Thomas have been linked to multiple landing spots.

The Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks, and Arizona Cardinals all need help at offensive tackle, but it's especially unlikely the 49ers would trade Staley within the division.

When asked if he'd addressed the rumor with Staley, Kelly responded, "I don't make a habit of talking to our guys about erroneous reports."
