For the second time in its history, Illinois has a man named Jeff George as its starting quarterback.

The school announced that Jeff George Jr., son of former Fighting Illini great Jeff George, would get the start under center Saturday against No. 3 Michigan. The start marks the younger Jeff's collegiate debut.

Jeff senior, a veteran of parts of 12 NFL seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders, Minnesota Vikings, and Washington Redskins, was taken first overall in the 1990 NFL Draft. He compiled 6,212 passing yards with 35 touchdowns and 35 interceptions over his collegiate career.
