If you plan on watching the Friday night contest between Oregon and Cal, a trip to the store to purchase coffee and Red Bull might be a wise decision.

The Pac-12 matchup kicks off just after 10:30 p.m. ET, and features two teams that can score a great deal of points, and also can't stop anybody from scoring on them.

The oddsmakers in Vegas are expecting such a high-scoring affair that according to Oddsshark.com, the total of 89.5 is the highest ever since those numbers began being recorded in 1980.

Here's the remainder of the top-10 totals in college football history.

Date Away Home Total
21/10/16 Oregon Cal 89.5
03/10/15 Baylor Texas Tech 88.5
01/12/12 Oklahoma State Baylor 88
04/09/16 Texas Tech Stephen F. Austin 87
29/09/12 Baylor West Virginia 85
04/09/16 Arizona State Cal 85
22/10/16 Oklahoma Texas Tech 85
16/11/13 Texas Tech Baylor 84.5
26/09/15 TCU Texas Tech 84
29/10/11 Baylor Oklahoma State 82.5

Oklahoma and Texas Tech's total of 85 in Saturday's game also finds itself on the top-10 list, and of the eight games played already, six of them went over the total.

It's probably a safe bet that the Ducks and Golden Bears soar past the 89.5 number as well, as both teams simply cannot stop the opposition from scoring. Cal is the 123rd-ranked defense in the country, allowing an average of 40 points per game. As bad as that number is, Oregon is even worse, sitting 125th, last of all the Power 5 conference schools in the nation.

Cal features one of the most potent passing games in the country, led by standout graduate transfer Davis Webb. The Golden Bears have scored more than 40 points in five of their six games this season, while Oregon has allowed 70, 51, and 41 points in their past three games.

Grab a pregame nap, brew an extra large pot of coffee, and nab a comfortable spot on the couch, because it's going to be a late-night scoring fest on the West Coast.
