Redskins' Reed to miss 2nd straight game with concussion

Geoff Burke / USA TODAY Sports

Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed will miss Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions with a concussion, the second consecutive game he'll miss with no timetable for a return.

The concussion is at least the sixth Reed has suffered since his college days. He said earlier this week his history of head injuries won't force him to retire.

The 26-year-old has caught 33 passes for 316 yards and two touchdowns through five games this season. Vernon Davis was the only tight end to catch a pass in Reed's absence last week against the Philadelphia Eagles, making two receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown.
