No Thierry Henry, no problem.

New York Red Bulls striker Bradley Wright-Phillips, who was forced to deal with detractors who said his 2014 MLS Golden Boot triumph was more a byproduct of Henry's impressive season than his own talents, eliminated any lingering doubts about his ability to find the back of the net in 2016.

The Englishman, 31, established himself as the most clinical finisher in the league for the second time in his career, beating out city rival David Villa to claim the title as this season's top scorer.

Wright-Phillips, who scored in Sunday's win over Philadelphia, finishes the campaign with 24 tallies, one clear of the Spaniard's total.

He'll hope to carry his potent form from the regular season into the playoffs, as the Red Bulls clinched their spot as the top seed in the East, and will now sit back and enjoy some time off before hitting the pitch again in the conference semi-finals.
