Florida's Dontay Bassett to redshirt due to stress fracture

Incoming Florida freshman Dontay Bassett will redshirt this season after being diagnosed with a stress fracture in his right foot, the school announced Friday.
The surgery is expected to require four-to-six months of recovery, almost guaranteeing Bassett will miss the whole 2016-17 season.
The power forward was a three-star recruit out of Oldsmar, Fla.
The Gators tip off their season Nov. 11 against Florida Gulf Coast.
