Report: Packers' Lacy packing on pounds once again

Cary Edmondson / USA TODAY Sports

Eddie Lacy just can't seem to shed the pounds, nor the label that comes with them.

The player many Twitter pundits have delighted in calling "fat Eddie" spent the offseason working with P90X creator Tony Horton and trying to lose weight after getting called out by his head coach for being too heavy in 2015.

Lacy, who weighed in at 231 pounds at the NFL combine in 2013, reportedly was as heavy as 260 pounds at times last season.

He reported to training camp this summer looking slimmer, but it seems he may have put the weight back on since then.

Despite Lacy's best efforts his weight "definitely has returned to the 2015 frame when team sources say he was anywhere from 255 to 265 pounds," ESPN's Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen report.

It's important to note that Lacy has been a much more effective runner this year than last, so the weight no longer seems to be slowing him down. Perhaps he converted fat to muscle.

The veteran recently posted a shirtless selfie on Snapchat in which he doesn't appear svelte, but doesn't look fat either:

Lacy will miss Thursday's game with an ankle injury and there are rumors he could miss an extended period of time - and perhaps even be placed on IR. It's hard to say if time away from the field will be good or bad for his ongoing battle with his weight.
