A pair of injuries in the offensive backfield have the Green Bay Packers set to rely on a receiver for a lead role this week.

Second-year wideout Ty Montgomery "will get the majority of the running back reps" in Thursday night's game against the Chicago Bears, ESPN's Rob Demovsky told Mike Clay on SiriusXM Fantasy.

Montgomery saw rotational snaps in that spot with James Starks out this past week, and he becomes the lead back with starter Eddie Lacy sidelined due to an ankle injury.

The trade to acquire Knile Davis from the Kansas City Chiefs gives Green Bay an intriguing option, but he'll presumably need another week to get comfortable with the playbook before he can take on a substantial workload.

Montgomery, a third-round pick in last year's draft, will have the potential to make some plays for the offense if he can get the ball in space. The Stanford product has hauled in 10 receptions for 98 yards over the first five games of the season.
