Report: Pelicans, 76ers among teams interested in Wolves' Jones

Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia 76ers and New Orleans Pelicans have shown interest in Minnesota Timberwolves reserve point guard Tyus Jones, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Wolves are open to moving Jones in the short term, while resisting overtures for current starting point guard Ricky Rubio, reports Wojnarowski.

Minnesota drafted the local product with the No. 24 pick in the 2015 draft after a standout season with Duke. Jones averaged 4.2 points in 37 games as a rookie last season, shooting only 35.9 percent from the floor. However, an MVP performance in this year's Las Vegas Summer League has improved the 20-year-old's standing with other teams, according to Wojnarowski.

The Timberwolves under Tom Thibodeau appear to be committed to keeping Rubio for the time being, while developing 2016 No. 5 pick Kris Dunn as their point guard of the future.
