Fantasy: Waiver Wire - Week 7
Every Tuesday during the season, theScore's David P. Woods runs down his recommended waiver wire pickups.
Quarterback
Dak Prescott, Cowboys
Next Up | Ownership | FAAB bid |
---|---|---|
BYE | 57% | $7 |
Prescott doesn't make a good replacement for Ben Roethlisberger, as the Cowboys have a bye in Week 7, but he's a shrewd add for forward-thinking owners. It's increasingly likely this super rookie won't surrender his starting job to Tony Romo.
Brian Hoyer, Bears
Next Up | Ownership | FAAB bid |
---|---|---|
at GB | 20% | $1 |
With four straight games with at least 300 yards passing, Hoyer has done enough to keep the Bears' starting job. He's an option for desperate owners in deep leagues.
Running Back
Jay Ajayi, Dolphins
Next Up | Ownership | FAAB bid |
---|---|---|
vs. BUF | 31% | $45 |
Unexpectedly, Ajayi out-snapped and out-touched the returning Arian Foster by an enormous margin, taking those touches for a career-high 204 yards and two touchdowns. It appears the sophomore has fully emerged from the doghouse and established himself as the Dolphins' featured runner. Foster will have a role on passing downs, but he's too brittle to trust as anything more. If Ajayi was dropped in your league, gather your FAAB bucks and fire off a big bid.
James White, Patriots
Next Up | Ownership | FAAB bid |
---|---|---|
at PIT | 57% | $26 |
Has White done enough to hold onto the Patriots' passing-down job once Dion Lewis is added to the active roster? It seemed impossible a few weeks ago, but we can't overlook just how impressive White has been. He's running hard, he's elusive, and he seems to have gotten over the drops that plagued him last season. The result is that Tom Brady now trusts White - and may want him on the field by his side for the rest of the season.
Knile Davis, Packers
Next Up | Ownership | FAAB bid |
---|---|---|
vs.CHI | 3% | $21 |
With Eddie Lacy likely on the shelf for several weeks, Davis appears primed to take over the Packers' lead-back role for the foreseeable future. It's unclear how quickly Mike McCarthy will work him into the mix, but he's the safest bet to get significant carries of any options currently on the Packers' roster. Davis has shown some promise when given consistent carries, but keep in mind the Packers' RB situation is likely fluid.
Devontae Booker, Broncos
Next Up | Ownership | FAAB bid |
---|---|---|
vs. HOU | 27% | $16 |
With each passing week, it becomes clearer that Booker is the Broncos' most effective tailback. On half the carries, Booker out-rushed starter C.J. Anderson in the Broncos' Week 6 loss. Eventually, and perhaps in the very near future, Booker will get a chance to show what he can do in a featured role.
Chris Ivory, Jaguars
Next Up | Ownership | FAAB bid |
---|---|---|
vs. OAK | 43% | $4 |
We still don't know what mysterious ailment forced Ivory to be hospitalized and miss games early this season, but it appears he's close to fully recovered. It's also apparent that T.J. Yeldon can't do much in a featured role. The Jaguars should go back to their original plan of using Yeldon as a passing-down back and Ivory as an early-down and goal-line hammer.
Dion Lewis, Patriots
Next Up | Ownership | FAAB bid |
---|---|---|
at PIT | 25% | $3 |
Lewis is eligible to return from PUP this week, but we have no idea if he will. The Patriots are typically coy about injuries and we still don't know the nature of the setback Lewis experienced in his surgically repaired knee. Owners with a bench spot to spare are advised to stash Lewis, but it's just as likely he won't see the field until December as it is he'll be a valuable fantasy asset for the November stretch run.
Zach Zenner, Lions
Next Up | Ownership | FAAB bid |
---|---|---|
vs. WAS | 1% | $1 |
Zenner managed 58 yards on 14 carries with Theo Riddick and Dwayne Washington inactive, and Justin Forsett still working his way into the mix. It's possible Zenner will maintain a small role going forward, but he's unlikely to approach even FLEX consideration.
Wide Receiver
Cameron Meredith, Bears
Next Up | Ownership | FAAB bid |
---|---|---|
at GB | 51% | $16 |
Week 6 saw Meredith draw another huge chunk of passing targets - 15, to be exact. He caught 11 of them for 113 yards. With Eddie Royal getting hurt in the game and Alshon Jeffery continuing to be minimized, Meredith's target share should remain big enough to maintain WR3 value.
Donte Moncrief, Colts
Next Up | Ownership | FAAB bid |
---|---|---|
at TEN | 59% | $16 |
Moncrief should return from his lengthy injury absence in the next few weeks, something the Colts desperately need with Phillip Dorsett looking like a bust and no receiver beyond T.Y. Hilton producing. If Moncrief was dropped in your league, now is the time to scoop him up.
Kenny Britt, Rams
Next Up | Ownership | FAAB bid |
---|---|---|
vs. NYG | 10% | $7 |
Britt caught seven of the eight passes sent his way in Week 6, turning them into 136 yards and two touchdowns, to add to what has been a quietly impressive campaign so far. Britt should be the focal point of the Rams' passing attack, not Tavon Austin. Perhaps we'll see that happen in the coming weeks. Britt's talent has never been in question; it's his lack of consistency (and nagging injuries) that have held him back.
Kendall Wright, Titans
Next Up | Ownership | FAAB bid |
---|---|---|
vs. IND | 3% | $6 |
Wright played less than half the Titans' snaps in Week 6, but had a huge impact, putting up a team-high 133 yards with a touchdown. His usage should rise in the coming weeks, but he is likely to remain a boom-or-bust fantasy option.
Chris Hogan, Patriots
Next Up | Ownership | FAAB bid |
---|---|---|
at TEAM | 38% | $2 |
You want a piece of the Patriots' offense. Hogan isn't a premium piece, but he's an injury away from a big role.
Ty Montgomery, Packers
Next Up | Ownership | FAAB bid |
---|---|---|
vs. CHI | 1% | $2 |
With James Starks out after undergoing knee surgery, the Packers used Montgomery as a receiving tailback against the Cowboys. The result was 98 yards receiving and six yards on the ground. On a short week against the Bears, Montgomery could play a similar role.
Tight End
Hunter Henry, Chargers
Next Up | Ownership | FAAB bid |
---|---|---|
at ATL | 35% | $7 |
The torch is being passed before our eyes. Even if Antonio Gates gets fully healthy (not a sure thing considering his injury history), Henry looks like the tight end to own in the Chargers' offense.
Cameron Brate, Buccaneers
Next Up | Ownership | FAAB bid |
---|---|---|
at SF | 19% | $2 |
You didn't hear about Brate in Week 6 because the Buccaneers were on bye. He will slot back in as a TE2 with some touchdown upside this week.
Jack Doyle, Colts
Next Up | Ownership | FAAB bid |
---|---|---|
at TEN | 11% | $1 |
Dwayne Allen left Sunday's game on crutches. Doyle is worth a minimum bid.
