Bryant predicts Elliott will rush for 2,000 yards

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is currently on pace to break Eric Dickerson's rookie rushing record of 1,808 yards, which has stood since 1983.

Elliott is averaging 117.2 yards per game, putting him on course for a 1,875-yard campaign, but teammate Dez Bryant believes the rookie won't just shatter Dickerson's record, he'll join a very exclusive club by the end of the season.

"Yeah, I believe it. Two thousand or more. That's my prediction," Bryant said, according to Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Only seven players in NFL history - Jamal Lewis, Barry Sanders, Eric Dickerson, Terrell Davis, O.J. Simpson, Adrian Peterson, and Chris Johnson - have rushed for 2,000 yards in a season, and none did so in their rookie campaign.

Elliott has posted four consecutive games of at least 134 rushing yards following a relatively quiet first two games.

His yards per game average over the previous four contests is 142.25. If he can continue that average for the rest of the season, he'd break Dickerson's all-time rushing mark of 2,105 by 20 yards.

But despite his early success, Elliott refused to pat himself on the back, crediting his dominant offensive line instead.

"I'll take my O-line over any guys in the league," Elliott said. "I'll take my fullback over any in the league. These guys just come out and execute so well week in and week out. They're the reason why this running game is so successful."
