Report: Twins considering Rangers assistant Levine as next GM

Jason O. Watson / US PRESSWIRE

The Minnesota Twins may have found a new general manager.

Minnesota's incoming chief baseball officer Derek Falvey is reportedly leaning towards hiring current Texas Rangers assistant general manager Thad Levine as the team's next GM, sources told LaVelle E. Neal III of the Star-Tribune.

If he's hired, Levine would work under Falvey in the Twins' front office.

Falvey, who's a member of the Cleveland Indians organization, won't be joining the Twins until after the World Series; therefore, any announcement on Levine joining the Twins would likely wait until after Falvey officially leaves Cleveland. His hiring as the Twins' new head of baseball operations was announced just before the start of the playoffs on Oct. 3.

Levine has worked as an assistant GM in Texas since 2005. He's also worked for the Colorado Rockies.
