Broncos HC Kubiak expected to be released from hospital Monday

Ron Chenoy / USA TODAY Sports

Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak is expected to be release from a Denver-area hospital on Monday after experiencing flu-like symptoms following Sunday's loss to the Atlanta Falcons, the team announced.

He was taken to hospital via ambulance, and remained there overnight for precautionary reasons.

Kubiak underwent an MRI and CT scan and both tests returned normal results, the team said in a statement. He was diagnosed with a complex migraine condition causing extreme fatigue and body weakness.

In 2013, while in charge of the Houston Texans, Kubiak suffered a transient ischemic attack - a mini-stroke - on the sideline of a game.

If Kubiak is unable to coach Denver's Thursday night game against the San Diego Chargers, it's likely defensive coordinator Wade Phillips - who has head coaching experience - will take over his duties.
