Report: Siemian expected to start Thursday vs. Chargers

Jonathan Dyer / USA TODAY Sports

Denver Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian is expected to return to the starting lineup Thursday against the San Diego Chargers, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

Siemian missed the Broncos' 23-16 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday with an injured non-throwing shoulder. First-round pick Paxton Lynch got the start and completed 23 of 35 passes for 223 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

The Broncos decided to rest Siemian for the game, Rapoport adds, to give him extra recovery time before Thursday's AFC West showdown. Doing so also avoids asking Lynch to prepare for the Chargers on a short week.
