Bennett: 'Playing for the Patriots has been a dream come true'

After scoring a career-high three touchdowns in Sunday's 33-13 win over the Cleveland Browns, tight end Martellus Bennett is understandably riding high.

Bennett joined the New England Patriots this offseason, and apparently couldn't be happier with his decision.

"Playing for the Patriots has been a dream come true," Bennett tweeted. "Proud to wear the Red. Silver. And Blue looks great with my skin complexion btw."

The 29-year-old's day looked to be cut short early in the first drive, when he went down with an apparent ankle injury. But he rebounded, finishing the game with six catches for 67 yards and the three scores.

"You lay down for a second and feel sorry for yourself, but then you remember all of the people who are counting on you and you just kind of find a way to suck it up and go out there and play for those guys," Bennett said, according to Mike Petraglia of WEEI.com. "I didn't want to let my teammates down. A lot of stuff we worked on in practice so I had to figure out a way to get back out there and play with my teammates."

Tom Brady made his return in Week 5, and Bennett emphasized how important it was to get on the same page with the veteran quarterback over the offseason.

"Communication is huge. Just knowing what he expects, what he wants, and try to do that correctly," Bennett said. "That's what it's really about. There is a lot of stuff that Tom communicated earlier in the summer during practice and one of them came up on the second touchdown."
