Watch: Hendricks helps own cause with 2-RBI single

Chicago Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks was leading the charge both on the mound and in the batter's box early on in Game 2 of the National League Division Series on Saturday.

After tossing two shutout innings to open the night, Hendricks stepped up to the plate to face San Francisco Giants right-hander Jeff Samardzija with no outs and the bases loaded.

The career .099 hitter fought off a 95-mph fastball and dumped it into shallow center field to score a pair of runs on the single, giving the Cubs an early 3-0 lead.

Hendricks, who had gone 8-for-58 during the regular season with just two RBIs, became the first pitcher with a multi-RBI postseason game since Brett Myers in 2008 with the Philadelphia Phillies, according to ESPN Stats and Info.

Chicago took Game 1 of the series with a 1-0 win on Friday.
